MY STORY
A summary of where I am today, and how I got here.
STUDYING ART & GRAPHIC DESIGN

I studied Art & Graphic Design at Westfield State University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design.

My studies focused on both 2D and 3D arts, ranging from drawing and graphic design to printmaking and pottery.
PHOTOGRAPHY & GRAPHIC DESIGN

While studying, I began my creative career as a professional wildlife photographer off the shores of Cape Cod and a graphic designer for Whale and Dolphin Conservation.
My work documenting marine life shaped my visual approach, grounding my practice in observation, storytelling, and the world.
UX/UI DESIGN & TEACHING

When I moved to NYC, I also entered the UX/UI design and education spaces.
I’ve taught design and research at institutions including General Assembly, Chegg, and Upright Education, mentoring emerging designers and helping shape thoughtful, human-centered work across disciplines.
VP of NYC UXPA

After joining the UX Design space, I immediately got involved with the nonprofit organization NYC UXPA. The organization serves as a networking hub for tech workers in the tristate area.

I started off as their photographer for in-person events just before COVID hit. After one gig, I was brought on to be a board member as the Director of Events, which eventually absorbed the Communications team as well.
Only a year or so later, I was elected to serve as the chapter's Vice President. In this role, I still oversaw the Events and Communications teams, as well as Volunteers team and managed the chapter's finances alongside the President and Secretary.
CREATIVE DIRECTION

Throughout my work in the arts, design, and education, I’ve been trusted with the brand identity and creative direction for a wide range of clients.
From individual projects to full brand systems, I’ve collaborated with various organizations to create or redesign their branding and marketing materials.
I've worked with educational companies like The Study Shack and nonprofits including Bystanders No More. Over the years, I have been leading brand development and facilitating professional development workshops that help teams confidently apply and sustain their branding.

I also work with the NYC Department of Health as an Art and Creative Director and Community Health Worker, where I lead department-wide visual direction, lead professional development classes for branding and marketing, manage diabetes self-management classes, develop accessible design systems, and support public education initiatives through clear, inclusive communication.
CREATIVE EVENTS & PRIVATE LESSONS

I currently work as a Creative Instructor and Founder of Atelier Marie Creative Lab where I host and lead classes in crochet, web design, drawing, accessory making, and more.

I host virtual events as well as in-person events at local Brooklyn, NY cafés, bakeries, and bars. I also offer private, 1:1 lessons and consultations for crochet and branding or business consultations.
MORE ABOUT ME

I blend the abstract and eccentric energies of New York City life and technology with the whimsical, nature-driven influence of my New England roots.
Outside of being creative, I love to spend time outside with an iced coffee in-hand, exploring the city and local nature.
